Default 98 shifting problem

I have a 98 xlt supercab auto and when I go to get out of park after school or work, it's real hard to shift from park. And when it's not hard to shift from park, it kinda skips over reverse and go to neutral. Anyone have a clue what would cause this? Thanks!

I have a 98, on occasion it does the same thing, I just move the wheel and that takes care of it. I don't know what causes it but it doesn't effect it either.

When you say you move the wheel, are you talking about tilting the wheel? Or turning it?
