Default 98 Question

Hey yal new here, been browsing for a good while and now I actually need some help.
Ok I have a 98 ext cab sb 4.6, stock other than exhaust/intake. I'm lookin into gettin some bigger tires and new wheels. I found a hell of a deal on craigslist for some tires and wheels already mounted and ready to go. Question is, will the wheel from a 02 f150 fit my 98? The bolt pattern is the same, are the lug nuts? Please.....somebody say they are....I literally will never come across a deal this good again lol Thanks

There wheels will fit but you'll need to get different lug nuts

Nope.. the wheel studs are 14mm from 99-03 I'm thinking and 12mm on 97-98 so no they won't fit your truck

Yes they do. I have 14mm FX4 wheels on my 98 which of course is 12mm. You can use your original nuts if the wheels are factory type. If they are aftermarket, you will need to buy 12mm x 125 tapered nuts to fit those wheels. The factory type is washered nuts and aftermarket is tapered fit. If you put the later wheels on, then to align them, use 2 tapered nuts on two offset studs. You draw them down evenly and then put on your washered nuts on the other 3. Tighten them and remove the tapereds and replace with the washered nuts. The wheel center-aligns that way and as long as you tightened the nuts on the first 3 then the other 2, you will be good to go. I have 10k on these so far and they do NOT come loose. If you need chrome style original nuts, go to my garage and look in Service manuals for the number for them.

Well, because I'm goin up in tire size, I needed bigger wheel so yeah unfortunately in this case with the lug nuts, they're aftermarket wheels. Alright akdoggie, sounds good to me, you've been doing it for awhile now so I'll take that as a good thing and go ahead and buy these. Seriously though, I was hoping there was a way around this so thanks man appreciate it. I'm going Wednesday afternoon to pick em up, soon as I get em on and everything I'll let ya know how it goes.

These are the type used with the washered nuts. These are actually 98 models for the wheels where the lug nuts are exposed. Not for under cap type lug nuts. They take the same style but with out the caps and are quite a bit cheaper.

You can get tapered 12mm x 175 lug nuts off eBay for about 20 for a set of 20. I have 2 spare sets I bought for under 10 each for my trucks and wheels. You can find it all if you look. Just for shi%s and grins, make sure the wheel fits your truck and its' not a set of 5 on 5.5's for the earlier trucks. Good luck and hope you score.

Sweeet, thanks man I appreciate it for all the help. I will definitely check it out. 20 for $20 is a pretty good deal as well. Yeah I will throw one of em on before I buy, you never know lol. The guy seemed very honest though, he told me straight up they were 14mm so I told him I needed check into it because I've never dealt with anything like that before. 16x9 wheels and 295/75 terra grapps for $500 cant beat it man.

Well, unfortunately I wasn't able to go get the wheels/tires today because it was too late in the afternoon, so I'm going tomorrow er well actually later today I guess. So yeah, no luck yet, soon as I get em I'll post. Actually I'm having a little bit of trouble finding those lug nuts on ebay, I've found a few but they were the wrong size. Do you think I'm not looking in the right place or did they stop selling?
