Default 97-03 Using different mirror bases

Hey guys,

In a snow storm this weekend I had a branch land on my 01 SuperCrew , but thankfully no major damage. It did, however, take out my passenger side mirror. I have folding, power mirrors with built in turn signal. It only broke my base (the section that mounts to the truck and stays stationary when folding mirror). Does anyone know if you can use just the basic power mirror base w/o the built in signal? If so, in theory I can just transfer the good mirror housing w/ signal to the new base.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Just get a new mirror off of eBay. You can't swap the bases on the mirrors as far as I know of. It'll be easier and more worth your time to just replace the whole thing.

. O you can swap the base..... But it's a huge pain and 80 percent chance you will break something lol. I have done it one time. Not worth trying to do it again. Had the same thing happen to me. Kinda. My base got broke and I had signal mirrors. I would just go to a junk yard and buy the first signal mirror you find. You can pop the colored piece off the back of the mirror and put it onto the new mirror so it matches. Best way to go about it.

I appreciate it. The problem is, I've found non signal mirrors for $50. The cheapest signal mirror I've found locally is $160. The headache is well worth a $110 savings. But I'm glad somebody has done it and it's possible. I'll try to do a DIY thread for anyone else that's going to attempt it.
