Default 91 octane vs 85 octane

So for everyone that says 91 octane is just a waste of gas ... I tryed out the 85 last week and I ended up getting crapy gas mileage my trucks a 97 f150 4.6v8 4x4 with k&n filter and super 44 flowmaster and the 3.55 gears and when putting in the 91 octane gas I usually get about 13/ 14 just city driving and with the 85 I ended up getting 233.5 miles and filled up with 21.7 gallons and that turn out to be 10.7 miles per gallon and its all city driving same driving habits with ac always on ...... Has anyone ever tryed something like that out

I put premium in last month and my truck runs a lot smother and has better throttle response.

87 is what is recommended for theses trucks and the lowest octane gas you should run. I use 87 and get 15-16 mixed with 285s. Before I had my edge I was still getting 14-15 mixed city/hwy

Hmm does ur edge work in the 97 cause I thought it wouldn't work at all because of it being all mechanical in our 97s

as long as the build date of your f150 was 7/96 or later. For some reason the F150s made 6/96 or before don't work with the edge

Thats because they don't have obdII ports. Also higher octane gas is an absolute waste if you don't have a tuner to adjust your timing for it.

If you have an obdII port you can probably find one that works for you

Don't expect much from any tuner without custom tunes. That being said your best bet is a sct x3 with tunes from somebody like more power tuning or 5star
