80mph max speed
ok heres the problem. iv got a 97 f150 with 4.56 gears crammed in it . speedometer has been corrected using a abbott electric ratio adapter. at 79-81 mph in 4th gear @3000 rpm im getting fuel or spark cut out. is their a way i can get the ecm to operate properly or should i get another abbott adapter and wire it into the out put shaft speed sensor to make it think it still has 3.55 gears.
Run a scan and see if any sensor is shutting you down, or if something simple is being your gremlin. Post up your codes, and we can see if we can help you out some. Just losing power at 80 and 3k rpms, makes no come problem come to mind. The codes will probably help us find the reason.
The only code I have is to an EGR insufficient flow. if you have driven your vehicle to its maximum speed that is what it feels like for an example this truck would show 99 miles an hour while GPS stated 80mph. I corrected the speedometer problem thinking that this would fix the problem it didn't. That is why I think the output shaft speed might be playing into this issue.
Huh, are you thinking it's the limiter...kill software ? Could be, need a re-gear the VSS or the TS sensor in the housing. What else could it be really. What's the abbot device about ? Because at one time, long time ago, you could purchase a worm gear for the sensor on the trans/T-case. You can look for it to offset the speedo. Haven't seen one in awhile, but I'm 100% there was a company that sold different VSS gears for sensor adjustment...it was just a plastic gear you could purchase for the sensor to accommodate larger tires/ dial the speedo back in.

yes I do think im hitting the limiter. the largest gear for the VSS is 4.10 I could find . however I went to 4.56 rear differentials that is why I went for abbott ratio adapter it gets wired into the outgoing wire from the VSS. modify the signal before it gets to the ecm and its compete adjustable.
