5 tones when shut down

I had a stereo in the past that did that (either a Pioneer or Clarion, cant remember which one). It was a reminder to take the removable face plate off. If that's the case, I don't know if there is a setting you can change to stop it or not.

If its a normal operation thing, then its fine, it doesn't annoy me at all. Ive just never had it happen on any other car and want to make sure its not a warning of something wrong. Thanks for the help!

Florida Joe.....remember, that when you remove your key, you have 10 seconds to turn off the radio, roll up the windows, etc., unless you open your door. That stops any electrical power that the GEM is still using. This could be what is causing your dinging.
I'd try to turn off the key, open the door, then remove the key. That would tell you something. If it continues to ding, then it must be your radio hookup. If it stops when you open the door, I'd say that the GEM is fine. I'd then go to the radio and check the red and yellow wires (aftermarket radio's general colors for power and continuous power) and make sure they are connected correctly. Red is keyed power, and yellow is constant power.
Hope that gives you an idea of where to check. Also, check and see if the prior owner might of added either a theft alarm or auto start box under the drivers side of the dash. If it has either, it could be either one causing a beeping also.

It's the radio, I'm about 90% sure. I worked at a Car Audio store and can tell you that radios have a lot of different tones to them. What your describing sounds like an Alpine radio. They will beep 5 times. Can you confirm what radio you have in your truck? Should have the model number on the faceplate. If not, upload a picture and I can tell you.
