Mod max racing should have some worth looking at. Mmr.com I think.

Modular Head Shop is the only place that offers an off the shelf Torque cam for the 5.4 that doesn't treat the engine like a car cam raising the power level higher in the RPM's. 25-30rwTq with no low end loss is normal to see with a peak of 20-25rwhp up the curve.

I have a set but have not installed them because I'm waiting to build the entire engine at once. Comp Cams has a similar grind but I have never seen anyone run them and I can't talk about cam theory like some of the pros do. Being close doesn't make them the same.

I have SHM custom grinds an picked up 30hp and 45 ft/lb of torque peak. But under the curve is where I was impressed.

Ran comp camps in my 4.6. Stage 1, they were mild and were supposed to add 25hp or so roughly. Not sure how much they actually added but they woke my truck up quite a bit.

If you run cams do you also need to run higher grade gasoline?

You can still get an 87 tune with most cams but my biggest question would be, "Why?" That's like buying running shoes to play water polo.

I want to be able to run mid grade if I cant find the recommended high test. Not every gas station in the areas I have to work is a sure thing.
