Have you checked Haynes and Chiltons manuals, I have not taken one of these apart yet.

I am having the same trouble. Does anyone think a 4x4 posi lock central axle disconnect system would help. because I can get it to engage manually if I take off the vacume valve.

if ur talking the the forks in the transfer case it would be much easyer too just replce the whole transfer case with one from the junk yard then too tear the transfer case apart. the shifting forks in my 88 f150 4x4 broke so i thought i could just take it apart and fix it haahah ya right and i can only imagen that with the newer trucks its goten more complicated. lol it took me 2wks too change the engine in my 97 f150. i can change the engine in my 66 pontiac tempest in a weekend.
