Question 4x4 Problem!!! HELP!

Well earlier today i was climbing a muddy hill and didnt want to spin so i put in 4x4 and the differential in the back locked up but the front wheels wasnt pulling. Then after that it had a hard time getting the differential to unlock. Any help would be muchly appreciated.

turn your key to the on postition and have some one turn the 4x4 **** from 2wd to 4wd well you lay under the driveside at the back of the transfercase and listen for the shift motor to engage, but if you have a manual shift i would bet its that damn air engaging system never liked em. but if your shift motor on your tranfercase is working then i would bet its the air actuator.

I got under the truck today and got my friend to turn the switch and it was making a clicking sound like it was engaging but the front wheels were not turning last week?
