Default 4x4 not working

Hey guys, I'm new in the forums and I'm sure this topic has been beat to death but I cant seem to find exactly what my problem is. I have a 2001 f150 with a 4x4 switch on the dash. I shifted it in 4x4 yesterday and it didnt seem to have a problem. I shifted it back out, no problem. Later I did it again but this time I shifted into low range. Then the 4x4 indicator lights went out and I couldn't shift it at all and I was stuck in low range. I removed the actuator and manually shifted it to 2wd and replaced the actuator. Still nothing. No clicks when i turn the **** nothing engages. I checked for power at the actuator by the t-case and have no voltage there at any time. Also, I have 12v like I'm supposed to at the solenoids and a decent vacuum at both. All the fuses that I know of are good. What should I be testing next?

How did you shift into low range and how did you attempt to shift back out ? You don't say so I gotta ask, -did you follow the correct procedure in your owners manual ?

Shift the tranny into neutral, foot on the brake to 4h, waited for the engagement and then shifted to low. Then the opposite to get out but it didnt shift.

The actuator is on the front axle, is the fork still engaged ? The actuator doesn't require VPWR, it's vacuum actuated.

Understood. The hub locking mechanism is vacuum actuated. What I meant was the actuator motor on the transfer case. Sorry for the confusion

Trying to distinguish if everything else works. When you shift into 2wd is the front axle disengaging? If the axle disengages, at least you know it's not a GEM problem...for the most part anyway.

The axle engages and disengages, the transfer case does not shift. And no lights on the dash at any switch position

The only other thing I can tell yuh, - guys have had to remove the shift motor and simply re-install it in order to get it functioning again. They can get hung up.

Perhaps someone else will chime in to help you further. Yea, that's the best I can do. Good luck
