Do you jack your truck by placing the jack under the axle tube? If so, this is your culprit, I never liked putting the jack under the front tube, it is not designed to hold the weight of the truck, I always put the jack under the control arm on the front. If I'm jacking up the back, I always put the jack under the tube where the leaf spring is, because this is where the weight of the truck is at the most, putting the jack under the pumpkin puts a lot of stress on the tubes, but I believe the tubes in the back are much stronger.

Silver State Ford has this part at 158.00. If you have to order another, try them first. $300 is a bit much from any Ford dealer. Even Cal Worthington in Anchorage. lol.

If you are breaking this tube, the inner axle shaft must have damage. Have you have the shaft checked for trueness? Looking at the breakdown, there is nothing else in there, minus the axle shift motor and the inner fork, so with new outer tube, it only leaves the inner shaft. How are you breaking them? Offroading? Rock climbing? I've never seen this part fail under normal driving conditions. I've seen it broken by a boulder, but yours????

Here's the Ford blow up of your differential. Number 3 should be your item you are having problems with.

You will have to input your vehicle information.

I was just checking that front tube out again, and the only item in there that can cause breakage is the axle. The inboard bearing, if by some chance wasn't there (? saw this on 2 new Chevrolet's from the factory) and allowed the axle to flex up or down or sideways because of no inner support. Otherwise, 4 bolts, torqued, reclip the axle inside, mount the motor and gear, then done. There sure isn't a lot of things there to go wrong.

Another possibility is the mount bushings possibly allowing the flex (?). You know how hard it is to figure things without actually see it first hand? It's a biotch. I don't know if you have a good break down of this or not, but if you need I can email you the good (clear) picture of how everything goes and the parts breakdown. I have 3 different services manuals for these trucks because I've found that everyone is better in one way but not in all the ways.

AkDoggie, more than app. the help cuz. I got the full scamataic i ? that's spelled right, from mike shad ford. I bought the axle tube that comes with new bearings and seals and the bushing. Inner tube checked true on a strait edge. But have talked with a few pep. at ford 9 peps asked me the same thing do you have after market axles form discount or autozone. I said yes autozone 69$ ford like 2or300 whoa. Then they asked have you ever jacked your frontend up let your arms hang and turn your tires i replied no. went home today and done so can only turn 1/4 way then lock up. put jack under arm until level as always spins good, let back down can't spin. called them back said they have found after market axles don't have enough pitch. So ? i will purchase FORD axles fingers crossed..
