4wd Vacuum Options
So I lost 4x4 today. I tested everything when I got home and found that my 2wd actuator doesnt stop pulling vacuum when 4x4 is engaged. I tested the plug at the actuator never fully loses ground.
Is there a relay that controls the switched ground that would be an easy swap or is my gem just giving up on me?
The way I look at it is that I can hunt electrical gremlins or rip it all out and go with a manual cable lock. If it's an easy electrical fix I would rather go that way. What do yall think?

Could it be your 2wd solenoid on the fritz? If not, I'd say gem module. I'm no expert, I've just had the opportunity to go through my system as well.

The solenoids are working as they should. The problem is before the plug for the 2wd solenoid. I'm going to look for a false ground with the ignition off when I get home.

Strange problem, there's just one actuator for both 2 and 4WD.
Disconnect either the pink or blue line to confirm the solenoids are working against each other. Yea weird...weird usually equals GEM. You'll have to trace the pink and blue line to their opposing solenoids, the lines change colors somewhere in between. Then pull the 2WD line confirming 4WD will work then. Your post suggests a tug of war of sorts and the 2wd solenoid wins because vac is stronger ? Very strange lol.
What's more likely is 4WD lost vac. Bad solenoid or like Bear said above, the recent accident. That may have knocked the 4WD line off the accumulator. Also may have cracked a line, they like to dry out and become brittle, impact could of caused that easily.

Bear and Brew, that was my thought but I have vacuum all the way down to the actuator. My problem is that the 2wd vacuum pulls whether its in 4wd or 2wd. I even jacked up the front of the truck and moved the arm manually to be sure that the fork and collar were still good. I may have a failed diaphragm as it has been getting slower to lock in before now, but I should not be seeing ground on the 2wd solenoid plug when it is in 4wd.
10thgen, my mind is going that direction right now. Well that or I hook up a three way toggle to switch the ground manually instead of leaving it to the GEM.

Will it go into 4WD if you disconnect vac or the 2WD solenoid ? On it's own...that's the question lol.

I shifted into 4wd, unplugged the 2wd solenoid, and the vac lines and it locked itself into 4wd as it should. Switched back to 2wd and arm moved back to the correct 2wd position. Tried switching back to 4wd and I had no movement once again.
