---- its for a window relay part of the GEM but its a good walk through on how to access it. That one from eBay might now work. I buddy has a 97 F150 5.4 4x4 and we went through 3 eBay GEMs before he went to Ford. I think it cost him $250. If you buy the ebay one, make sure it has ALL the same options, power windows, locks, 4x4 ect... and make sure they have a return policy. If it doesn't work, you dont wanna be stuck with it.

davelar3212 - im not very familiar with the previous body style, but if it clicks into 4x4 it sounds like its working. Does the the 4x4 engage at the transfer case when you turnt he switch? Or are there just some clicking noises and nothing else?

According to my mechanic, the 4 wheel drive is engaging. He thinks its just the switch that's bad (we're still trying to find one) and thats why the gauge lights aren't lighting.
Quick questions guys,
If my GEM is bad wouldn't a bunch of other stuff be bad too? Like interior lights and such? I'm reading a lot of articles on the GEM and most people are replacing it due to non working interior lights. Not non working 4wd. Just trying to eliminate extra steps. Going to pick up a fuse pack tonight and see if that works.

It's possible, but my friends 4x4 went out nothin else and the gem was the fix. another guys a ton of stuff went out and we had to swap he gem. It's like saying the radio is good in your truck when the fm receiver is bad but the cd player works.
I think you guys are right. I opened up my dash to inspect the GEM today and it's got rust on it. The fuse box does too. I have an appointment at the dealer today.
