Why would anyone put that car engine in a truck?
You'll see why, if you do it.

Really!?!?!? Your calling a 302 a car engine! As compared to the 4.6!! There both gutless stock! And both in alot of cars! But at least the 302 makes some low end torque!

Not compared to even the 300 series in line 6. Compared to the all of the older F150 engines, all of the 97+ modular engines are crap up until recent years.
Yea, I'm calling the 302 a car engine because it IS a car engine as is the 4.6 and 5.4. The only "truck engine" in our years is the 4.2, which was stroked and modified as a truck engine by Ford for torque, but it still ain't a truck engine to me even if it does have almost the same torque and HP as the 4.6 V8.
To put another no torque gutless wonder in the truck is a waste of time and money, in my opinion.
For no problems and simple, I would put a diesel like a Cummins 4 in the truck and be done with it, or simply fix the problem in the 4.6.
But it's his truck and he wants the 302, I hope it makes him happy.
Just don't say I didn't try to warn him.

A nice roller 302/5.0 with the right parts will crush the 4.6 or 5.4 engines!! That little 302 will make some torque and HP with the right selection of parts.

I agree, Ford has almost always been underpowered and the 4.6 should've never been put in a truck!!!
