Default 4.6 question

Is it just my truck or is the 4.6 sluggish. It won't spin slick tires and is slow as molasses.

Yea that sounds like your truck, what specifically does it do to be defined as "sluggish"

it won't spin the tires taking off or anything. It's ridiculously slow. Slower than a 94 ford ranger and a Silverado on 35s.

To get them to spin sometimes you have to put it in neutral, rev it up to the max and drop it into drive. I find it works best to do this in the mall parking lot. They seem to have harder tar which makes em smoke real good. Plus all the honies go nuts when you do this. Bring a stick so you can poke em if they get too close. There will be a herd tryna get in your truck.

LMAO, but the honies will walk away once they find out you can't take them anywhere due to grenading the tranny lol.

Could be just your opinion on what sluggish is, or you need a good tune up, my 4.6 has great acceration and can briefly spin out on a quick take off. And i know it for a fact because the wife gets pissed at me every time i do that with her in the truck. Lol

It's a pickup truck with a tiny engine. What do you expect? And for Gods sake don't drive on bald tires!

It probably is the yoke on the driveshaft going into the trans. It needs to be greased with PTFE based grease liberally on the splines.

I think mine does really good as well. Mine has a Windsor in it, which I have always felt has a little more grunt than the Romeo.

Small hp, heavy truck is not going to be a hot rod, but my 4.6 is stone cold reliable, gets 17 mpg and does whatever I ask of it.
