Default 2wd help

The 2wd 1997 f150's don't have torsion bars do they? Was hoping to just crack the tbars to level it out... thanks

Good question, I do know that the 4x4 can't have coil springs due to the CV shaft that goes through the same area. So they use tbars. I also believe that coil springs ride better as the rate is progressive, they get stiffer the farther you compress them. Those are just my observations though.

Everything I've read on this forum indicates that the 97-03 F150s do NOT have torsion bars. Plus, while this is the cheapest way to get more clearance, it isn't healthy for the other associated parts (ball joints, etc.). I would invest in a leveling kit if I were you. IMO

I'm going with the Daystar 2.5 inch kit. Should have it on this weekend. However, I hear FabTech and Rough Country also makes good leveling kits. One more thing. It is suggested that you invest in longer shocks as well.

As far as installation, I've heard it takes anywhere from 4 hours and up (depending on how mechanically inclined you are). I'm taking mine to a shop and letting them do it for me. Prices for install range from $100 to $300 depending on where you are.

Sounds good, didnt think they would cost as much as they do just for a tiny spacer.... But i guess it would be ok..

All 97-03 4x4s have torsion bars. The 2wds have springs.

Where'd you get that information? Did you mean this in regards to 2WD only, or is this meant for all models of this generation?

Yeah. I meant to say 2wd only. The 4x4 had the t-bars. I was responding to his original question about 2wd's. Thanks!
