Default 2wd Conversion

Hey guys,

I've been battling with getting my 4wd to work properly for a long time and have spent a lot of money on things. I finally got it working but now I'm having solenoid/vacuum line issues. I'm just brainstorming here but what if I wanted to turn my truck into a 2wd? What would be involved? Remove all of the 4wd components? I was thinking that would save a lot of weight and I could probably sell the parts for enough to install LSD. I don't do any off roading, I do mainly highway driving. I tow a 18.5 ft boat twice a year. Please don't use this post to convince me to stay with 4wd. I'm over it. I just want advice on what a conversion would take. Stats on my truck below.

1997 XLT Scab 4x4 5.4 153k miles.

Shouldn't be much more than swapping the tranny and front end. If ur on budget I'd hit a junk yard or craigslist for parts. Idk of there's a plate to seal the current tranny of you were to just drop the t-case. But that could solve the tranny swap issue.

by the time you buy all the stuff to remove the 2wd you might as well buy a cheap 2wd truck.

Cool thanks for the info guys! I wasn't sure if I would have to buy special parts or not. Probably just will remove the front axles then. Next step, where can I buy a good LSD kit?

Im guessing you mean front driveshaft? And figure out what rear end you got and then look at companies like auburn, arb, and eaton.
