Default 265/70R17's on standard cab?

Guys the 99 4x4 5.4 standard cab short bed stepside. Has f4 or what ever you call these wheels on it. Right now it has 285/70R17's on it. I like the look of them. But don't like crawling into the truck with them on it. Pushing 60 years old. Back and knees are bad, so not good to crawl into a truck these days.
So thinking about going down to factory 265's of even 245's to get it lower to the ground. Not looking for ground clearance, only every use 4x4 at boat ramps or slick roads.. Off road for me is most of the time 2 wheel drive.

So any pics of standard cab 4x4's with smaller tires on them? Don't want the old truck to look stupid with the small tires. And hate to buy a set to find out I don't like the looks or height. I know its hard to have both.
Here's a pic of the truck with 285's on it now.

Honestly going to 265s will only net you about 1/2"-1"

You could probably keep your 285s and unload the tension on your front end to drop it lower, and even take the factory 2" block out of the back.

Get the stock 265's and running boards.

Toss some side steps on there, much more useful than the tiny height difference you'll get from swapping tires.

These are 255/70/17 Bridgestone Dulers.

I'll swap if you want to meet somewhere between. Them tires have 3000 miles on them.

If it were me I would trade my rear block for a 1" and drop the tbars down a bit. It looks like your truck may even have an after market leveling kit on it. You wouldnt happen to have a picture of the rear block and leaf spring on one side would you?

Will get one after while. I have to get back under there to spray the bed bolts.

That's a good looking truck you have there. And if you were closer we would sure work out something. But my tires are junk, old and not safe to be used. So that is the reason I'm looking at new tires. These are I'm guessing 75% thread left. But just have cracks and not safe to run.

Pete- man, what a nice looking truck! I'll echo Fordfan & Jackedup- go with stock size and put some running boards or step bars on it. It does make a difference getting in and out. Regards, Bear
