Default 2004 Heritage Problems

I was given a 2004 F150 Heritage 4.2 5 speed 4X4 with a list of problems. First, sometimes when releasing the clutch there is a horrid grinding sound but it goes into gear fine and the transmission don't feel loose when shifting but it only seems to do it when releasing the clutch or if the clutch isn't released all the way and when releasing it the rest of the way. But like I said it seems like its snapping into gear fine. It also has codes PO171 and PO174 Bank 1 and 2 lean and P2195 and P2197 O2 Sensor signal stuck lean bank 1 sensor 1 and lean bank 2 sensor 1. Any idea on those. It also don't start off the key when I push the clutch in and turn the key the dash lights go out like they normally would when not pushing the clutch in. But everything comes on normal and If I short across the starter solenoid on the fire wall it starts fine my guess is the clutch saftey switch on the pedal. Any help is appreciated thanks.

P0171 and 174 likely means an intake leak on the 4.2.
clutch problem. Have you checked the fluid?

What is the fix on the intake leak usually gaskets or the whole intake manifold? The clutch fluid is full, do you think the clutch could make a grinding noise or would it be more transmission or rearend. But the noise is gone after your moving. I haven't noticed it when shifting but haven't drove it much either.

Could be. Foes the clutch feel weak? If you push the clutch to the floor and hit the gas does the truck still pull? It could be slave cylinder going out too
I doubt the intake manifold itself is leaking or you could probably hear it hissing. The early 4.2s were more common for intake manifold leaks but it's not unheard of on the later ones

I have a 4.2. Common lean code points are the pcv elbow and the pcv elbow under the throttle body. Best way to find out. Buy 2 cans of brake cleaner, have the truck running. Spray the brake cleaner over the pcv and under the TB. If you hear the RPMs run up. VOILA there’s your issue. Helped me. Hope it helps you. As for the clutch issue, I have an automatic so I’m not your guy here. Btw the dorman pcv elbows can be had for around $7 at an auto parts store. If you have a zip is go ahead and put that over the fat end. It will be loose and fall off. This is not good. The zip tie will just add pressure to keep it in place. ****ty dorman products. But if you’re like me. There’s not **** you can do about it in the middle of the autozone parking lot, no intake, TB removed, and pissed off because that elbow won’t stay on there.

Clutch don't feel weak but I havent tried pushing it in and giving it throttle to see if the engine still pulls. I'll try that I was just looking and on one of the mating surfaces of the intake manifold and the engine there is a wet spot like where it has been leaking, I'll get the brake cleaner out and test for leaks.

Spraying brake fluid won’t do anything of note.

Since the intake will be off, change the IMRC bushings, or the whole shebang if you so wish, and put everything back together. That’s causing all your codes.

I had someone push the clutch in and turn the key while I tested the exciter wire for the starter solenoid and I only got 4.5V is there a common thing that happens to cut the voltage down like that or is it usually just the switch on the clutch pedal? Thanks

Without actually hearing or driving your truck, from what you describe my guess about the clutch is the release bearing on the slave cylinder.
