Default 2001 F-150 Lariat Odometer Issues

Hey everyone,

I just bought a 2001 Ford F-150 Lariat that has a strange issue with the odometer. The odometer always keeps track of the mileage, but will not light up (electronic odometer) all the time, sometimes it will start working again when the motor warms up and sometimes it will never kick on during a 20-30 minute drive. Any ideas? Sensor? Loose wire? Fuse? Thanks in advance

Solder points. Someone will chime in with more issue. Pretty common issue from what I've heard. Mine does it too

There was just a thread. Read through 2 PAGES OF THREADS OR SEARCH. Crazy. Seriously. Someone just posted this.
But all you have to do is take the cluster apart and re solder some joints. No big deal, if you can't solder learn. Buy a $20 gun. Or go to a computer parts store or local geek squad in best buy or something. They are all good at soldering. But if you don't know how I recommend learning. Good skill to have trust me.

I tried searching it and nothing came up, I apologize for creating duplicated threads.

Is there a special type of solder that needs to be used, or can I just use Rosin core solder?

Rosin core should work. Find the smallest solder you can and the smallest point soldering iron to make the job easier. If you wanted to go all the way you could use solder wick and soak up the old solder and start from scratch.
