Default 2001 with 140K on it?

Ok, so i found a 2001 F-150 4x4 on ebay that has the 5.4L triton with 140,410 miles on it. It looks in really good shape! But with that many miles on it, what would i have to do to it? I'm not too familiar with fords. I'm 15 as of now, and i am looking for a vehicle for when im 16. I want a truck, i know they don't make great MPG but i want a truck lol. Im wanting to know if this would be a bad idea getting it with that many miles on it? ETC....

Heres the link....

I have an 01 lariat 4x4 with 150 thousand runs great. Awesome truck, ive had it for 3 years now and love it. 140 is nothing, my uncle sold his 01 with 220 on it and the guy he sold it to is running it at 340. Search the forum for mileage vs what people have done/repaired. Looks like a great truck, great shape, well takn care of, doesnt look abused at all. In my opinion dont get anything less than the 5.4 v8 and i like the 4x4 because is adds a 9.75 rear end vs the 8.8

I just bought my F150 Super Cab 5.4 4x4 in January with 144k on the clock. It was a one owner and came with all documentation including the original window sticker and title. I got real lucky and stumbled across it. I've loved every minute of it. Even though the 4x4 doesn't currently work (I'm working on it) and the radio is busted. Mechanically it's sound

Nice truck! just be careful over ebay. The engines in these are made to last well over 250k if taken care of properly. Try and have a good trustworthy mechanic check it out before you buy it.

I wouldn't buy any car on ebay just because you can't test drive it or make sure it's in good mechanical condition

As the vehicle is in Illinois, I would ask the seller for pictures of the undercarriage. Also may want to ask if the undercarriage has been protected. I bought my 02 with 143,000. It's been running great. The price doesn't look too bad provided there are no hidden problems. Do you live very far from where it's for sale? Could you go and look at it? How will you take delivery? Just curious. Also, can you legally buy at your age? In Washington you must be 18 to purchase a vehicle. Or is a family member buying it for you?

ETA: I notice it says there is a 6 disc CD. It doesn't show in the pictures. The dash mount is an AM/FM/cassette. Might want to verify. Mine is in the alcove behind the back seat/passenger side. It could also be under the front passenger seat.

Don't buy a vehicle over eBAY unless it is local enough to see, test and have evaluated.

I know things can look good from the links, but there are crooks on eBay and they will take you for a ride...

On the other hand, there are good sellers who are honest and have a good product to sell. Use your common sense and have someone independently evaluate the vehicle.

I somewhat agree. I did not find my truck online but I think carfax is an excellent tool.

You should have the seller provide a carfax report to you or you should pay for one. It's worth the money. If it's close enough arrange a meeting to look and drive the truck. That's the nice thing about a local truck. Drive it, buy it. lol
