Default 1999 missing.

I have a 99 with the 4.2 V6 and 200,400 miles on it. I just changed the spark plugs because after about 30,000 miles the old plugs were arched and ruined and my truck was missing badly. Putting in new plugs helped for awhile but when cold its missing again. I'm thinking maybe my coil is going out? Also I've heard that not too many shops will overhaul the V6 engine, is that true? I really can't afford a new truck. I'm planning on taking it into a local shop to diagnose it in the near future (If and when I get a tax refund). The last time I looked into a new factory V6 it was around $4,000. But that was a while ago. I'm old school and I think having my engine rebuilt is cheaper then getting a newer truck with the V8. I commute 60 miles a day and the V6 is better on gas. Thanks.

Its usually the other way around with coils, you'll develop a miss when you get to operating temp. But if you have 200k on the factory coils and plan on holding on to the truck, I say throw some new coils on it and see what you get.

Just had a coil go bad on my truck with 145k. It missed BAD when it reached operating temp, the truck would fall flat on its face and shake like a mother****er.

Yeah I checked the resistance on my coils about a month ago when I changed my plugs and got some readings that are out of spec. A local Auto Zone had my coils for about $70 with a lifetime guarantee. Looks like I'm putting new coils on.
