Default 1997 sub box

so i have a 97 extended cab i have seen a lot of sub boxes for the 99-03 f150 but not much for the 97-98 ive only seen one but it was only for 1 sub. i was wondering if it was possible to put a 10 under each seat and the amp in the middle. and if this is possible would it make more sense to make one big *** box or 2 little ones

Thumbs up

Speaking as a NON pro...you just might get away with doing putting in under your seats. If not, you can do what most of us other guys end up doing and just lift your seats to however high they need to be to fit. (Pro tip in advance, if you go that route...you might want to get your hands on a torque wrench to get those bolts loose. They can be a pain in the )

As for the box...if it were me, I would build separate boxes. From what I have seen and heard, enclosing into separate boxes somehow helps the sound better. As long as you follow the "Measure twice, cut once" policy, and insulate it correctly you should be fine either way though.

btw, would be cool of you to make a build thread for this for the other guys out there with similar models to actually see the step by step of actually doing it vs just thinking about it. Could help some fellow members out

Have you checked supercrewsound.com

Here's a link to what you want

Also just toss your amp behind the backrest

the thing about that is that i still plan on using my back seat and no room for the amp.i was measuring the depth and at the bottom its about 11 and at the top its about 12.75 so is it possible to fit 12s without them popping out and i plan on using shallow mounts so not sure on seat lift

Whats the difference between your year and the others? Do you have less room than the 99-03? I have a 01 XLT Extended Cab with two 10s on one box and The amp under the passenger.

Their rear seat has a full frame under it so you cant fold the seats up the same way like in a 99-03 which just has the one post for the 60/40 split to rest on

Most of these sub boxes for under seats are ridiculously designed just to squeeze in large subs. The vast majority have seriously insufficient clearance between the woofer and the floor or seat to perform well. Some even impact floor or seat when loaded up. Hiding it really has drawbacks when you dont have enough room.

Id rather have a long-throw woofer in a proper setup, that can be removed in 30 sec by unplugging if you need space, than some slim profile subs that are installed improperly so they cant breathe.

Here is another link as well that may be helpful. Doesn't look like you'll have room for an amp though. I'd personally put a slim line amp behind the seat. I found a link a few months ago that actually provided brackets that raised the rear seat up 2". That was a nice box but I can't find that one. And I'm supposed to be working.

I think i'll probably just end up making 2 10 in boxes and raising the seat 2 in and throw the amp in the middle but thanks to everyone for their input.
