Dude I know right, mine has over 343,000km on it and it is way too easy to bust the back tires loose even on dry pavement. Now imagine putting in a trick flow top end kit, which about doubles the HP. I've seriously been thinking about it.

The 5.4 engines '99+ and 4.6 engines '01+ have pi heads that give an extra 20-30 hp thats the only difference performance wise, im pretty sure the non pi heads are actually gonna be more reliable cuz there made with iron not alluminum

I have a 97 Lariat Scab, 4.6, 4x4 step side, runs great with 145K on it milage isn't bad I get about 16 mpg on the hwy. The only thing I have had to do other than regular maintenance is the heater blend door went bad, had to pull the dash to fix it was an 8-10 hr job, simptoms was no heat.

If its been well maintained go for it.

You might want to ask if the plugs have been changed, that is one thing that can turn into a nightmare, aluminum heads and the plugs are prone to breakage and stripping out the threads in the head.

I would take it to a mechanic before I'd even consider buying it. Thanks for all the advice!
