Default 12 Volt Power Source Quit Working...

Hey everyone,

The other day I bought a 12 volt air pump to keep in my truck. When I got home I was playing with it and plugged it in to see it work. As soon as I turned it on, it powered up for about one second then shut itself off. I immediately thought I had blown the fuse for the 12 volt power source so I checked the fuse under the hood, only to find that the fuse had not blown. Now anything that I plug into the 12 volt power source will not turn on. Radar detector, phone charger, etc. I can not figure out what happened. Did I "blow up" my 12 volt power source? Any ideas on what might have happened is greatly appreciated.

My truck is a 2003 Lariat FX4.

Check in the fuse box under the dash, I don't know what number or size fuse it is off hand, but check your manual, same thing happened to mine

Thanks for the quick reply, Lifted 99 F150.

Well I checked the owner's manual and it said the fuse for the 12 volt power source is a 20 amp located in the fuse panel under the hood, and when I checked it, it wasn't blown. Guess I could be mistaken on where it's located. I didn't check the fuse panel under the dash because that fuse panel is mainly for smaller amperage fuses, but I will check it out tomorrow.
