Default Multiple problems with my 97. Please help!

Lately a bunch of problems have arose. Here they are:
1. Burnt smell. If you open the hood you can smell it on the passenger side it seems. If you turn the truck off the smell is stronger and you can smell it about 1 foot away from the truck. Came up about 8 months ago.

2. Just going down the road there is a horrible creak coming from my passenger side front wheel. Hitting even small bumps causes it to creak, and it is very loud! Also, when turning the wheels it's one long continuous creak. Which makes me think that it is a joint that moves when both the wheels turn and the wheels move up and down. I can sit still, and turn the wheels, and it's horrible. This started about a moth and a half ago.

3. My tranny has been leaking for a very long time. 2 days ago we replaced the pan gasket and fluid. I torqued the bolts down to where they should be, and it still leaks. It looks like it leaks around the pan. There is no debris under or around the gasket.

4. Randomly, yesterday, as I began to accelerate, my truck sputtered and almost died. Earlier today as I was pulling into a driveway. The truck sputtered and then died. However it started right up.

5. My engine makes this weird noise. It's vert faint and sounds like chirping. I thought it was because of the cold, but it does it when the engine is well warmed up.

A little info. The truck has 86k on it. I blew the engine in it a year from last October, and put a brand new engine in the summer following. I never had it timed because I thought it came pre timed. Please help! I love this truck ad don't want to lose it.

The creaking in the front is most likely a ball joint or tie rod end. Take it to a shop and most will inspect it for free if they aren't busy. That is if you have some good mechanics around you.

As to the sputtering, check the fuel filter and the coils/plugs/plug wires. Mine was missing really bad for awhile and come to find out, it was the plug wires.

Just start somewhere and eliminate the cheaper things first. Hope this helps.

Alright. I'll have this checked. New wires got put in with the engine, so probably not those, but I won't rule them out. I'll check the coils and plugs, and fuel filter. Thanks for your input!

Don't rule anything out. I learned that the hard way, I replaced all the plugs/wires and 3 of the wires were bad along with 2 of the plugs.
No problem, let me know what you find out.
