03 Random A/C 'issue'
Swapped my 06 screw for this 03 scab with my stepdad. Have had it @3 months now with no issues. Only 79K miles.
Had been driving down the interstate @hour 75mph, and all of a sudden the A/C stopped blowing cold. Cycled it off/on a few times, but still blew warm air.
Reached our destination and I left truck running while I looked under the hood to see if anything was out of the ordinary. While doing so, it started blowing cold again and the clutch/compressor was cycling normal. Worked perfectly for the rest of drive.
Called a buddy that works on A/Cs and said his 01 f150 has done this a few times when it's super hot and that it could just be building up head pressure. It was 100 degrees Friday in south Georgia. Does this sound right?
Should I chalk it up as random event, or could it be a sign of failure somewhere?
My 06 did this, but at low speed/idle and it turned out to be the fan clutch.

Maybe the 75 mph had the RPMS up high? I noticed when I get on the gas a little with my 03 the A/C gets warm and when the RPMS go back down its cold. I think it turns it off for more power. Just a thought though

Check your drain hole for the evaporator and heater core box. Sometimes they can get plugged, and as a result it gets water (condensation) built up in the box, and no cold air.

AC has not acted up again and blows ice cold, but I've noticed there's a rattle coming from the AC compressor. It's very noticeable when AC is off, and quiets considerably when AC is on.
I took a look at front of compressor with truck idling and AC turned off, and the clutch is trying spin. Almost looks loose. Turn AC on and clutch engages and rattle quiets down.
Do I need to adjust the air gap, or check that bolt is not loose? Or is the clutch shot?
