a friend of mine has a 03 king ranch f150 and for some reason the AC wll only blow thru the defrost vents. a dealer told him that it was a problem with the controls themselves......i was curious if anyone here has had a similar problem? i was also curious if it was possible to switch the digital one out with the manual *****?

 

Yes its common...the little o rings go bad in them...there's a redneck way to to fix it that works pretty good ....take the front vent panel off and reach down in the left vent tunnel and you can feel the blend door....then take a piece of foam or something and wedge it in there where the door is open. Now it will blow out the vents and a little on the defrost. If you want it equally on defrost and vent split the difference on the wedge...works like a charm

 

ha that works good for me, better something than nothing. those pieces are expensive....even at a wholesale price

 

have him check the vacuum line for a leak thats what was wrong with mine when it did the same thing
