really. you gained about 80 rpm on cruising speed with the OD on, that is nothing to gain IMO. you tow a '25 camper with a 4.6, how's that work for ya?

Well, it's all about modifications and doing what we want to do with our trucks.

I sense some hostility on your part but I'm not sure why.

Obviously, it was NOT working for me or I would not have regeared. I sensed the truck was "over" geared soon after I purchased it. I didn't buy it thinking I would ever be towing. Things change.

The mod was worth it to me.

I've invested $850 in my past for far less return (like the time I took the extended family to BeniHanas and found out later that I was paying $6.75 per beer! They bar bill was about $900!)

I will most certainly miss you.

Thank you for your input.

Hopefully I will one day reach your level of intelligence. Ford rates the towing capacity on the truck at around 7,000 lbs and I'm towing around 5,000lbs.

FWIW, I don't tow in overdrive.

Wow. You admit you are hostile AND your don't do what you say you are going to do. I'd rather be a "noob".

I posted my experience on a legitimate modification here after following a thread regarding re-gearing in the exact same fashion.

Is this the "welcome" that you give "noobs" on this forum?

I'm here to glean information and would have expected more positive inforamtion and responses.

You represent the forum well. I'll bet F-150 forum is proud to have you as a senior member. It probably brings in a lot of business for "noobs" to experience your brand of welcoming.

don't call me hostile when i ask a simple question. most guys hate the 4.6, i couldn't imagine towing a 5k camper.
