South Louisiana transplant. Moving to the Lewisville/Flower Mound area very soon.
Need suggestions on a good audio shop, mechanics, lift/tireshop, as well as an inspection place that will pass illegally tinted windows for when i register my truck. Not opposed to stripping the 5% but would rather not if possible.

Welcome to the board. I live in Euless. Not far. I did my own audio if you want to give it a listen. It is built for quality not volume.

I can tell you to be careful with the tint around here. I've been pulled over and ticketed for it. It isn't a "fix it" ticket. It's a fine. It cost me $285 10 years ago. I doubt it's any cheaper now.

I have a few upgrades done to mine as well but may want to do a few tweaks. Have a passenger side component speaker that cuts in and out. Ive messed around with it before but could never nail down the issue. Maybe you know the issue I'm experiencing?

I've had my fair share of fix it tickets here in South LA but that $285 doesn't sound too appealing. What can you typically get away with? 20%?
Currently running 5% on front doors and 5% over the factory back glass. Actually in town for work until next Friday and haven't really seen many PO's patrolling the areas I frequent.

The front windshield can be completely covered in a UV reflective coating so long as it remains without tint.Glass such as rear quarter areas and back doors are completely unregulated. The back window is unregulated if and only if the mirrors on the vehicle provide 200 feet of visibility to the rear. If they do not provide said visibility then the rear window may not have more than 25% tint on it.
Hope that helps.

Welcome to DFW - honestly I didn't know the tint was part of the inspection, it very well could be, I just didn't know it. I just thought it was an issue with the law and they would ticket what they believe or is illegal.

All of my cars are tinted and I cannot ever remember tint being an item.
Sorry I do not know what the law here in Tx is. However in DFW tint can really help in the summer. Also get something reflective to put in the windshield.

Tinted windows fall under the safety portion of the inspection.

Zimmerman - I have no help for ya though.

By the way, tickets for illegal tint aren't "fix it tickets." They are fines. Agreeing to rectify the problem will not get the cost reduced.

I quoted the law in my earlier post.
