Default Which year to buy?

I have my 2005 XLT 5.4 4x4 running pretty good now after having done timing job, plugs, injectors, coils, brakes, shocks, tires, Car Play and all the usual other things. I have learned a lot in the process and am ready to sell it and move on to another project. I still want to buy another F-150 but am wondering what year(s) are better than 2005? The 2005 models seem to have spark plug and injector issues quite often not to mention timing jobs. I am maybe looking at 2008 and newer models so which years would be considered the better years as far as chronic engine problems go?

Oh and you may ask why am I selling it if it runs good? I like to tinker and this one is done. I bought it for $8,500 and now have $13K in it so I know, I will probably lose money on the deal.

Late 2007 and up seem to have the least issues. Why are you selling the 2005 after doing all the work to get it running well? You may have to do it all over again with the next 5.4...

He told you why in his first post. He likes to tinker, and that one is fixed.

Too bad doing the fixes to the engine doesn't add value to the truck when you sell it.

2008 with an Engine build date of 10/09/07 or later will have the new up-dated heads/VTC's and no plug problems, but you like to tinker... you can come change my leaking passenger side exhaust manifold if you want...lol

Tinker? I'd get a 70's F150 or Bronco, and restore it. They go for around 25k once their fixed up good. Buy a beat one for 5k.

Our gen trucks don't have collectors value (at this time).

In this case wouldn't it make sense to buy one with issues and fix it up, not ask for which year has the least problems?

Really just trying to get armed with a little knowledge. Helps in bargaining with a seller.

My opinion - the sweet spot for a used F150 would be the 2013-2014 MY with the 5.0L Coyote engine.
