Default wire mesh grill

So I've been looking for a new grill for my xl. I realy like the wire mesh ones but I don't like the price. Has any one attempted to make there own wire mesh grill? I'm thinking about doing it but not sure where to start.

Make a template first then cut out of the mesh and see what works to mount it. It can't be that hard...

Default Wire Mesh/Cloth Grill

I made my own last year, and it really turned out nicely, cannot even tell that it is home made as opposed to the ones made specifically for the truck.

Used some wire mesh (Source: http://www.bwire.com/ ) bought a cut piece from them that I knew would be plenty big, and cut out the shape I needed from there. Best thing to cut this material, I found out the hard way, is aviation snips. They can cut right through it.

I first painted it with a chrome paint, just for a little more shiny look and then fastened it with a series of washers and screws. Has held up well over the past year, worked out better than expected.
