Default Whats this?

For y'all wire gurus,

What's this and what's it for. Behind wood trim going into the area of the ac controls

It's the green plug that seems to just plug
Into a plastic slip to the left of the cigarette lighter

All the 04-08s use the same wiring harness the lariat trimed models and a few others has park assist, this plug is for that.

I could be wrong, but I think it's for the switch for the optional backup sensors.

My '04 Fx4 has the backup sensors. Also, are you the first owner of the truck or did you buy it used?

Well this is a long shot in the dark, but have you checked the rear bumper for the backup sensors? I know some people cut up their dash so aftermarket radios will fit. Then before they go selling it they find just any dash piece to replace their cutup one when they took their fancy stereo back out. Maybe all you need is the On/Off button for the sensors.

The second possibility is if someone replaced the rear bumper and didn't get one with the holes cut out for the sensors, so they may have them zip-tied up under the frame somewhere and found a replacement dash piece without the hole for the on/off button.

Like I said, it's a shot in the dark, and I'm not sure if it'll help you, but it's worth checking. I found some interesting things mixed/matched on my trucks like the plastic on the mirrors, and my F150 before this yellow one had a King Ranch grille and it was just a XLT truck. People can change things out on you. Haha

They arent really necessary unless have a garage to park in. Then its handy to save from bumping a wall.

Yeah, I don't think I could go without them now. They make my life so much easier because I have to park in a parking lot that's too small for my truck, so I back in the slots, and now I don't have to worry about crushing the car's bumper in the slot behind me.
