Default What would cause this damage?

Hello all I'm new on this forum!

I need to know what would cause this damage? I noticed some rust and while washing it causes a hole in the drivers side. Rust is on both sides but I have never seen a f150 rust here??? Any ideas?

The hole can be seen in this pic at the bottom rear corner of the cab

Closer pic of drivers side

Pass side rust

Any help would be appreciated

F150's and other vehicles do rust there and other places.

The truck has lived in Indiana and Ohio its whole life to my knowledge....I never saw this on either one of my older f150s....that's why I asked...is it expensive/worth it to fix it?

All 4 door f150s in 04-08 will do this, its not where you live or how you wash, they have thin metal there and the run off from the roof runs down behind there and lays on the shelf in behind. Best way to fix it is have a plastic corner molding installed

I would recomend fixing it as well, I wouldn't want it to spread and it would look better

Mine is starting to rust in the same area, just an inch or two lower and exactly in the same spot on both sides(drivers side and passenger side). Luckily mine hasn't eaten thru as of yet to make any holes, but I am wanting to get it fixed before it gets to be that severe. That is another reason why I am getting ready to take it in and have that lower portion of my truck Line X'ed.
