It's a sensor that verifies the hood is closed.

Any idea what the truck does if the hood is open? Will it not let you start it? Reason I'm asking is I can't start my truck using the key. Thought maybe if there was a hood senser it could be at fault.

It won't start and honks a certain amount of times. I dont remember how many times. I know it honks a certain amount of times for doors open, hood open, key on, and several other things if the truck fails to start.

Hum, maybe thats my problem... I'm not getting a honk at all. For anything. And it refuses to start using the key. Remote start works perfect.

Well that sensor is for the hood only. It seems that you might have a problem with you ignition switch or wiring. Is the remote start a ford add on or a aftermarket.

I'm still at a loss as to what exactly my problem is, trying to eliminate all the possible things. Is what hooked into the speakers?
