Default what is this thing for?

can anyone tell me what this is for, no mention of it in the owners manual???
I sure hope its not a change holder, it would be rattling and fall out if ya hit a bump!

its a coinholder, they put that in place of the hole where your shift on the fly four wheel drive **** would be if you has 4x4 unless you have the manual shifter in the floor

It actually does hold quarters pretty well, but they do rattle still. I just dont use it at all.

When I had my 2wd, I used it to start off with, but just throw change in the ashtray after it got full.

LMAO!

I knew there was an F-150 counterpart to the trash hook in the Ford Contour.

Parts/accessories that just make the owner scratch their heads and say WTF?

I have that in my truck too. If you pull straight out on it theres a wire behind it. Now, I've heard that it can be for the 4WD on the fly or the passenger airbag turn off. However, apperantly that's only applicable in the rewgular cab trucks. Who knows! I keep my coins in the center console slots, works well!

Some pull it out and use it for a place to mount an accessory switch (off road lights, etc.).
