In past experiences, I have found that using freebie rental tools from parts stores are not the way to go. Previous users off these tools have abused the heck out of them; many will round off a bolt.

It only gives me a good excuse to buy another cool tool for the garage tool cabinet.

I find any of the parts tore rentals are generally beat. I just bought a strut compressor kit for this very reason

Great job for a spud wrench, and a "persuader" pipe or "Cheater bar" slid over the end.

Your local plumbing supply house will probably have a few versions of these in stock..

UPDATE:


I removed the electric clutch from my 2007 4.6 V8 this past weekend; the threads for this bolt required that I turn the wrench COUNTER CLOCK WISE (towards the passenger side) standing in front of the engine!
