Default What size wrench...

2007 with the 4.6 (2V) V8. Thought I did my homework and found the fan clutch bolt to be 36 MM, but the wrench I ordered to use is too small! This is the stock OEM electric clutch fan.

I don't want to rent (even for free) the tool kit from any parts store; they are usually rounded out junk tools. I really do not want to use a large cresent wrench either, but the correct sized open box type wrench. I already have the tool to hold the pulley/pulley bolts; I just need the size of the e-clutch fan bolt.

So, anyone know the size? 42 MM?

Fit a crescent wrench to it and measure the span? Personally I wouldn't be afraid to just use a big crescent, assuming its a good tight wrench and not sloppy and loose.

I've r&r'd many fan clutches with a big crescent. Don't be scared, you'll be fine.

So, no one knows the correct size of this nut?

Sure, a large good quality cresent wrench will work, but still prefer the good "bite" of a correct sized wrench.

I just did this last week with a big cresent... worked perfect... I just tapped the cresent handle with a hammer and it broke free. GL Bucko

With some persistant google searching I found this site:

http://www.haydenauto.com/upload/hay...fan-clutch.pdf

It lists the 2007 Ford F150 4.6 V8 (same year range 5.4 V8's also use the same part number) as using an electronic fan clutch Hayden part number 3264, that shows it as a 47 MM center fan bolt. Bolt is listed as reverse thread.

Techrep, did you wack it to the right to loosen, or to the left (when standing in front of the truck)?

And do you have the 5.4 or 4.6 V8 with electronic fan clutch?
