I have been told its so many things its not funny.imo i think it was just extra space ford had left over after the inside of our trucks was put together and ford had to use something to cover it up.I mean common its not deep at all,So pretty much anything you put in that space will fall out once you put your brakes on or go over bumps and whatnot.Sorry i couldnt be of more help.

Hey atom, where the hell you at brother,i know you what thats for????

Well.. in my truck, it's a ashtray/cup holder.

But it makes as a nice change holder.

Yep, an ash tray in the center and a cup holder on the right and left side of this ash tray. It folds into this spot. My model is a STX.

Post your year/model so we can narrow this down to a specific model and year.

Its a 2006 5.4L XLT 4X4

Im thinking of designing a toggle switch piece that slides in and out of there. Because I want more lights to help me see at night when i go into reverse. Im also becoming an EMT so I can use some switches. But I really just wanted to see if it was used for something else.

Mine is a 2006 4.6L XLT 2 wheel drive though.

Your truck was most likely ordered special through a dealer, and the ash tray/cup holder option probably wasn't installed. You can probably find one for sale on here, or on ebay.

brake/accessorie compartment it was designed in when the newer f150's were on the drafting tables. This was told to me by a designer that worked on several model years

models that have an actual console, not the jump seat, will not have the ashtray/cupholder. if you have the jumpseat you will have the ashtray/cupholders. you can swap to either or as you like.
