Help, I have been trying to figure out what gear ratio I have on my 2004 fx4 and am finding sh%$T. My question is! what exactly is a FX4 package consist of? I know it sits a little higher? Thanks

 

Skid plates under the engine, muffler and gastank, different shocks, different guage cluster and I believe thats it.

 

I believe the FX4s are generally all 4 wheel drive too, i may be (and most likely) incorrect.

 

I believe you are correct. I see many folks refer to an "FX2", although my sales document for 2005 lists an FX4 as a 4 wheel drive. I assume the FX2 that folks refer to are the same interior package, and 2 wheel drive.

 

FX2 is a sport package. exterior looks a lot different... I believe the FX4's have a 3.73 gear ratio. Dont't know about all, mine at least

 

Agree with Lenn...suspension and skids...an FX4 is a 4X4 and an FX2 is a 4X2...I have an 08 with 373 gears...there are some interior stuff that comes with the FX4...I have never seen one without leather seats...

 

fx4= skid plates, tires, shocks, gears, a few things on the interior like gauges and seats are all exclusive to that truck. An fx4 is like an off road addition Lariat, all the classy looks with rugged off road parts. Your fx4 Buckstruck, has stiffer off road shocks than it's counterparts but to compensate for the rougher ride they put a softer tire on it like an E-rated tire so the truck still rides nicely. a typical 4x4 has 3.55's unless they get the towing upgrade to 3.73's but if they did that the dealer would probably just suggest they get the fx4 which has 3.73LS. Interior wise I know a few guys on the forum that will tell you the differences between the leather on the fx4 and the lariat that the lariat leather is softer but I have not personally looked at the two to compare them so I can't promise you that's true, the guages are different as well.

 

The Ford dealer near me just had a used 07 Silver FX4 with cloth seats (not power) and no carpet (vinyl floor). I wish I had the $21k they wanted for it.

 

Yes Lenn they do make leather and cloth fx4's if you look at the sticker on a new fx4 with leather you will find where it says luxury package, which of course is leather if not it's cloth. How much would they give you for your 05' on a trade in? probably not much if you bought it new.

 

Nah... I have 46k on mine and I was given a rough estimate of about 10K for trade in. I didn't have it with me at the time I saw it but I gave them the trim level and the options that I had. When they asked the condition of the interior/exterior, I had told them it was better than most they had on the lot.
