All of these ideas would be beneficial to stopping a thief but if they are determined then there is no stopping them. I just wish my buddy and I came outside 10minutes earlier.

Man, sorry to hear it! I'm honestly surprised this still happens. With new stock radios being what they are, I can't believe there's a market for stolen radios much anymore. I guess they're selling to older car owners.

An alarm is the next mod after I get this fixed.
Nichos - I was thinking the same thing. He won't get much for it. The officer mentioned they had 4 calls previous to mine of break-ins. I talked to a buddy and his friend had her car broken here downtown last night so it seems like a big issue here right now. The fact he left his own blood is going to screw him.

I got a bad smash and grab in Austin. Loser pried at the door handle and when it wouldn't give he pried the window channel to break the glass. Then he removes the window (which was held together by the window tint) and sets it beside the truck. Climbs through my window, pries the bezel scratching it to pieces, tears out my stereo, and climbs back out the window. The massive crow bar scratched my door down to bare metal in spots. My brother has never seen me so furious. I always take the face off my radio now when I park though. I got a substantial stereo upgrade out of mine with insurance money. Oh and he stole a jacket, pocket knife (that he used to cut the signal wire to my amp under the backseat), and my first iPod I ever owned that was plugged into the radio in the glovebox. That's the only pic I could find right now. The rest are on my computer. But you can see below the handle where it's bent. The body shop had to call a ford rep out to tell them what all was screwed up with the door because they saw parts broken that never break. Thieves are the lowest. Hope everything works out. Viper sells alarms that have glass sensors available to be added. I almost put one in mine

On a serious note sucks what happens. Besides installing an alarm the best thing to do is prevent it from happening in the first place by securing the property or parking the truck in the garage. Even with an alarmed house the ****bags know they have a couple of minutes to clear it out before anyone shows up, same goes with a car.
As someone else said leave the door open, but they may then attempt to steal the entire truck or rip the engine apart.
I read a while back on a forum that someone in Florida had their truck broken into by smashing the glass for $20 of stuff. They then tried to leave the door open to prevent it, theifs came around again without checking the door they smashed the glass AGAIN.

Yeah. I claimed it on insurance though and got the bodyshop to work out getting me an upgrade on my stereo. It was like 3K in damage when it was all said and done. The insurance deductible was like $250 I think. If it happens again I'll just claim it again. My idea of protecting it is eventually just lifting it. Even a 6" keeps them from seeing in the windows as easy. If I wouldn't fail inspection I'd put darker than legal tint on it too

Hopefully. I went with a body shop so they would deal directly with the insurance company. They color matched it perfectly and dealt with everything wonderfully. You can't tell my door was ever repainted.
