Default Well...this sucks

I just posted in the Introductions Thread like last week. Loving the truck (2004 SuperCrew) so far. I went out to get in it last night after work to drive home, looks like someone gave it a good "nudge" to the rear bumper. There is a good sized dent just to the passenger side of the license plate pocket. I'm pissed. It's the only scratch or dent on the truck.

Anyways, I have been thinking of what to do...should I pop the dent out, get a new bumper, or poney-up some money and get a nice after market bumper? What is available for an after market that doesn't cost over $1,000 (seems like all the ones I find are that much).

I've got pretty good insurance, I just haven't called them yet. I was hesiatant to do so because I didn't know if would make my rates higher at all. I would rather fix it myself if the rates go up.

I'll call them now to find out...

Hey just do like I did. I backed into a friend's van one day and dented my bumper - didn't hurt his. Then I just waited about a year until last weekend when I got rearended! No the other guy's insurance is paying for a new bumper (and more!).

Depending on state, you may be able to file against your uninsured motorist coverage (may be a lower deductable).

My truck got rearended back in January while sitting in a parking lot. The damage wasn't bad but it couldn't really be repaired. So I ended up getting a new bumper put on, I've got chrome bumpers, that ended up costing a little over $700. The bumper itself was about $400 and the step pad was like $150 and the rest was labor and tax. The person who hit me paid for it out of her own pocket so it didn't cost me anything.
