Default Well I'm two for two

Well I go for the Recon White Lightning light bar, even got a good deal through Amazon. Made it a whole week before it died, now we have to see how the return policy works out for Amazon. THEN... I get a decent accepted through Deal Monger for the Saleen Sub, which I was finally going to put in today, being the temps here were in a more workable 22 degrees. I get it out of the box and low and behold the corner is crushed. Of course the packing or lack thereof did not do such a good job. So now to see how Deal Monger Deals with it. Fortunately, I put the insurance on it during shipping, so I might have to see how UPS Deals with it I'm really not a big fan of mail ordering, and this is pretty much the main reason why... AAARRGGG!!!
WHEW! I feel a little better now...I'll get off my soapbox now, have a nice day all

Sorry to hear about your luck, I think at some point all of us who have modded have some horror stories about mail order parts. I have been putting off several small mods I would like to do simply because everything here in Hawaii has to be mail ordered and shipping anything out here is so damn expensive. Hate to wait the 2 weeks to get something only to find I have to fight with a companies return policy and then wait another month ot two to get a replacement.

Great!, I just put a White Lightning bar on two weeks ago. Please post back with your warranty results for those of us who may follow in your tracks.

Question, how did you deal with the short safety stop rod on the bottom right of the tailgate and the associated hump the light bar has to pass over? Or does your's have that?

Maybe there is some hope, first i got a response saying Amazon could not ship until the end of the month, being they were not in stock. Then today I check my e-mail and another email stated I'll get my replacement to my door on Tuesday So far I am am pleased with the quick response of Amazon, they even supplied through e-mail a shipping slip and authorization for free shipping back of the old unit (gee, I don't have to pay to ship the broken part, go figure!)
As far as the in the sheet metal boss for the pin on the tailgate, I carefully trimmed a notch on the mounting surface of the light bar, trimmed half of the mounting pad (next to the hole) , chamfered the edges of both to follow the edge of the boss on the sheetmetal. After doing the slight adapting, it fit right on center. Of course once Amazon sees the rework they might have a baby, but oh well, it would not fit otherwise, what I done, did not cause the "problems" at all! I really don't remember my 05 and 07 having the pin on the tailgate (but I never really looked for it, did not want the light bar on a lease)
As far as what happened, first the brake lights were flickering, so while I was checking my connections at the car wash, a guy in a Chevy told me to WD-40 the connections, that he has to do it all the time on his light bar. I went home and put dielectric grease on the plugs and all was better (so I thought). The red LED's totally went out the next day (backups still worked). Then the white LEDS would stay on all the time, then they too took a dump eventually. It seems whatever circuit is in the light bar must of went south. All I know is, I hope I have better luck with the replacement.

Thanks for the additional info. I installed mine very similar to yours, cut a section out of the mounting surface a little wider than the boss and also milled about 3/32 off the back being careful not to cut into the sealed section. I then moved the mounting pad, drilled a new hole, near the end of the light bar, turned it 90 degrees and stuck it to the thicker area of the box side sheet metal.

Did you ever notice any moisture in the light bar? That seems to be what a lot of people report when they have a failure.

Horah!! for Amazon!!! I received my new Recon today, now all I need is a little time and a little more decent weather to do the exchange. To answer the question, I did not notice any condensation, but I will take a better look when I remove the old one (maybe tomorrow, if we don't get the 4 to 6 inches they say), although I'm pretty geeked on replacing it, I'll just put a warm(er) coat and hat on . It seemed to short out internally, being a couple of the LED's were very dimly lit all the time before I unplugged it.
