Default Well, this is a first... ANTS!

Well, about 2 days ago I noticed some little ants in my truck, thought no big deal they must've just found a old french fry between the seat (You know, the place the vacuum cant reach, right in the middle between the 2 seats). Today, I get in my truck to go to work and it looks like a parade of ants, all over the floor of my truck. I shut the door, go in the house, and get windex (Ammonia will do the trick!) I spray my truck, let it air out, vacuumed all the dead ants out and go to work. After work I go to my truck and notice ants crawling all over the outside, and not big ants, little tiny ants. I get in, more ants. I go to wally world and get a can of indoor ant spray and ant traps. Doused my truck in it and left all the ant traps inside it for tonight. I vacuumed all the crumbs and the whole truck out looked everywhere and cant find a main source they'd be going after. Do I attract ants or what? Anyone else have this issue before? How can it be stopped/prevented? I think Ford forgot to seal some cracks, cause the ants found em! This is the worst feeling, trying to drive and seeing an ant out of the corner of your eye or feeling them crawling on you, not fun. HELP!

I just had to clean out ants from my girlfriend's car last week. I used one of those spray cans meant to kill ants (worked like a charm) and hit all the ants I saw. After that I sprayed all the door jams and around the perimeter of the floor boards. Sprayed down any I saw in the engine bay as well. Vacuumed out the car and hosed everything down the best I could. Got rid of them. Just took some work.

Yeah, I think tomorrow I'm going to spray the truck down again with the ant killer. And as far as roaches, I just went through having my apartment sprayed because of roaches (I live on the ground floor) Its been a mess!

i spat out some beer while reading this because my first thought was...

maybe the guy has ocd, or is on some wild street drugs.

but anyways, leave some sunkist orange peels in your truck. ant's don't like oranges.

also, if you've got ants in your truck... then wouldn't it be a plauseable theory to say that your truck is a source of food for a nearby colony?

kill the source, and you fix the issue.

just a thought....

The only way they are getting into the cab is by way of one of the four tires. They have to crawl from the ground into the cab, and the tires are the only contact point.

My guess is that you may now have a colony living under the carpet, and the ants are going FROM the truck TO the ground looking for food and then back to the colony (truck) to feed the group.

Best way to rid a colony of ants is to spread around a dust pesticide that the ants take back to the colony for everyone to feed on, including the quenn. Kill the queen, and the colony dies. She's the egg layer. The ants themselves only live a few days.

Go to a good pesticide place and buy a dust that has the ant workers bring it to the colony to feast on. In a day or so, no more ants. This worked in our house; it will work in your truck.

Thanks for the input guys. Ive sprayed my truck with ant spray multiple times, set ant traps, and vacuumed it out about 3 times now. I also did put orange peels in it, at the same time and let it sit undisturbed for a day. I also took the truck for an "offroad ride" to get rid of any colony that might be under the truck as well. I also sprayed the whole parking area around the truck and along the curb incase they were there too. They seem to be gone now, I have only seen 1 or 2 here and there.
