Default Weird noise started

Heard what sounded like a heat shield rattle that lasted about 2 seconds, then I hear this intermediate rattle that sounds like its coming from the top of the intake towards the back. Happens around 6 seconds, 15 seconds, and 23 seconds...

Well I actually used Cloyes about two years ago, but one of the tensioners failed, so two months ago, I replaced one guide and both tensioners with metal Ford tensioners that have the ratchet action. I also replaced the oil pump previously with Ford Racing high volume...

Sounds to me like the non-sealed metal tensioners continued to puke oil and starved the top end.

Did you replace the cam followers and lash adjusters as part of the timing job?

Is that a known issue witht the metal tensioners? did they do that in the 2v's?

To my knowledge they weren’t fed with oil in the 2vs, so no. A metal tensioner capping an oil line without a seal isn’t much different than a hydraulic tensioner capping an oil line with a blown out seal. I don’t see how it can’t leak oil and drop pressure further downstream.

Either way, I’d have those VCs off for inspection.

Did you happen to pull off the oil pan and clear the plastic out of your pump pick up screen as part of the job?
