Default Wanting help on boosting performance

I just bought a 2006 5.4L 3V SCREW 4x4 lariat. Ive hooked up a bullydog programmer and specter cai. my next step is going to be probley going to be banks headers and a custom true dual exhaust. im just curious as what other people have done to there exhuast systems and just in general what people have done to the truck to give it more power im new to fords and really curious how to get some power out of them open to any suggestions.

Stop. Take off the CAI and put the stock one back on. Why would you do such a thing you ask? Because the 04-06 5.4L runs lean from the factory and specter is one of the worst CAI for that (and filtration).
1. Get a custom tune for the CAI or take it off and do the intake mod.
2. Longtubes or broke. Banks ones are shorties and will not improve power.
3. Rest of the exhaust go 2.25" or 2.5" duals with an X and straight through mufflers.
Optional to squeeze the last bit of naturally aspirated power:
4. Gears
5. Efans
6. Cams
7. UD pulley
Anything beyond this will need some sort of forced induction. Start with 1-3 and go from there.

Agreed. I personally don't want a cai and I'm more than fine with the stock. I do have a drop on kn filter though which has worked great on my 5.4

When you get to the ignition system, a set of Accel COP's wouldn't hurt.

Horizontal move. Still need to be programmed correctly if you want to run a CAI and avoid lean conditions.

Couple of things. The CAI's are a waste of time in general. When I bought my truck I started with an Airaid CAI (btw the Roush is made by Airaid and they simply put a different nameplate on top). With a tune and CAI the truck was no faster 0-60 then it was with K&N drop in and the intake mod. So I sold the Airaid on ebay. Coils are another waste of time. The stock COP's are capable of supporting 1000hp. Trust me you ain't gonna need the aftermarkets.

The aftermarket catback systems are usually fine unless you just have to have true duals. As for headers go with the longtubes as stated above. Dynatechs are a lil pricey but will last forever and they are my weapon of choice. Look for 15-20rwhp. Efans will give you about the same. I just recently converted mine to the 2010 F150 efans. Easy to do and looks factory. Gears are always good. Pick your gears based on the tire and rim combo you decide upon. www.diffsonly.com email them with your needs and he will give you a deal. I got my Yukons for $150. Oh and pulleys = a waste of money. Just my two cents.
