Default Voltage Regulator

How easy or hard is to replace the VR on our alternator?

I have done a few VR on other cars. Some don't even need to remove the alternator. Haven't looked into yet but just wonder if anyone here has done it before and care to share some info. Thank you.

They are very easy to replace. I did it a few months ago on my alternator. I would order the part online because, at least in the Phoenix area, they are very hard to find. I bought mine for about $19 off of Ebay.

Here is a video on how to open up the alternator...

I think my alternator, 2005, was a little different but still the same.

Hey thank you, I saw that video too. Mine is an 05 also. Does yours need to remove the bottom half to get to to the VR or is it totally external?

It was inside like in the video. I only used the video to see how to open the alternator body. The replacement was more or less exactly like the video.

Default Job is done

Well,

After some research I decided to replace the whole alternator for $100. Brand spanking new unfortunately made in China.

Started the engine, measure the output voltage and getting 14.5- 14.7 Volts.

Good enough for me.

In my spare time I will get a new voltage regulator and swap it out and reserve for spare part.
