there are VIN decoders on line.
The VIN will tell you model year (tenth digit) country of origin (first) manufacturer, body style, engine, and some other little things.
If you have a friend at a dealer, the most comprehensive use of the VIN, or partial VIN, usually the last 7 when using Fords MicroCat software will allow the parts guy to bring up the entire "Bill of Materials" for the truck, which will tell you everything you ever wanted to know about the truck and then some.
Every option, every specific detail, key codes, I mean everything.
When I worked for TASCA got to play with MicroCat... an amazing database.
