Default Vin and engine?

Hi My vin has w code tells me I have a 4.6. I thought I had a 5.4 triton do 4.6 come with 3 valve? Guess what im asking is help to ID what i have changing head gaskets n want to get the right gaskets any help apreciated. Whoops forgot 2006 f150 stx 2wd

You have a 4.6 in an STX. You're 8th vin digit confirms.

All the V8 fender badges say Triton whether you have the 4.6 or 5.4. That's the name FMC gave the modular engines. The only difference is if you have the 5.4, it will say "5.4 Triton"

The 4.6 is a 2v engine in this generation.

Default You need to use your vin different plants might have some head differences

I don't have one of these . I'm sure you have sohc ,that's single overhead cams. That means one on each side under valve cover . You don't have phasors or VCT'S for variable cam timing . The 4.6 has way less headaches than the 5.4 -3v . Some 4.6 people on here can probably give you more info on what to look for .

Ok very cool i just dont want to wind up with wrong gaskets thanks for the help.only thing scareing me is keeping it in time im doing this in the woods not a perfect setting but i am maticulous and not in a hurry
