Default Vibration help please

Morning guys,

Well, we have had our 2006 F150 king Ranch for about a week now, took her ona 600 mile Houston - San Antonio-Corpus Christi- King Ranch - Houston road trip.

Love the truck, its really good appart from an annoying wheel wobble/vibration at various speeds. When we bought it I noticed it and asked the dealer to re-balance the front wheels, which he did but its still there.....

I am guessing the next step is to balance the rears.....

If its not that would you suggest going to front wheel bearings and steering rack componants or have you had any history of prop shaft imbalance etc.

The truck is very clean and well looked after with no signs of off roading underneath the vehicle so I am hoping its nothing major.

There is a slight pulsing from the front brake discs (rotors - sorry im British) but not sure if that will cause the vibration?

Any thoughts please

Mark

might be warped rotors. i had a bad vibration from a bent pinion flange on the rear end, but that was caused from snapping a driveshaft at 90 mph.

Default vibration

Thanks for the replies guys,

I'm hoping its something as obvious as a warped rotor, my wife is taking it back to the shop today so I will report back with what they find.

(maybe she likes driving it with the vibration......who knows)!!!

Thanks

Mark

Get the rear axle off the ground, try and move the drive shaft by hand and see if one of the u joints has gone bad. Mine had a bad rear u joint go and it was vibrating.

Okay,

We had all 4 wheels rebalanced, the vibration is much much better but Im still feeling the pulsing from the front brakes when driving slowly to a stop at lights or junctions, so I think a new set is next.

Thanks again for the replies

That pulsation when you apply the brakes is a good indication of warped rotors. If it goes away when the brakes are released, I'd say the front rotors need to be turned or replaced, depending on how worn they are, or how warped they are. They can only be machined so far before they have to be replaced; if they get too thin or too warped to where they cannot be machined down without making them too thin, they are replaced.

I've had belts seperate slightly inside a tire to where they could not be balanced. The tire shops tried to balance them a couple of times; they tried swapping the backs to front, and I still had the jouncy feeling at a certain speed. They finally gave me a new set; problem solved. Hopefully yours are alright now, you just need to address the pulsing at the front brakes.
